Musical Director: Robert Lewis

Robert Lewis was born in Cardiff and began his musical training as a chorister at Westminster Cathedral, followed by a choral scholarship at the Oratory and New College, Oxford, where he read music.

 

A conductor, performer and educator, Robert specialises in developing choirs and voices of all ages. He founded and directs the Excelsis choir (based in south-west Surrey), which performs at the Grayshott Concerts including works by Karl Jenkins. Robert has conducted the London Mozart Players at the Grayshott Concerts and also at the Barbican, London in the world premiere of the "Blue Pearl" One-World Oratorio by Steve Banks in May 2022.

 

As well as working with some of the country’s leading musicians, Robert has made over 25 recordings and toured in the UK and abroad – most recently to Prague, Cologne, Antwerp and Venice with the choirs of St Thomas-on-The Bourne church in Farnham where he was Director of Music up to the end of 2021.
